Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Interactive Google Slides Games

Follow this quick and easy tutorial to create your first Google Slides game.

1. Sketch Out Your Game

Before you start, it’s essential to outline your game concept. Consider the following questions:

  • What type of Google Slides game do you want to create?
  • What is the goal of this game?
  • Who will be playing it?

For example, I decided to create a quiz game for my colleagues at Envato Tuts+. I generated a set of questions that include fun facts and pop culture references:

  • Question 1: Which movie features an AI named Skynet?
  • Question 2: True or False: AI can experience feelings just like humans.
  • Question 3: Which famous scientist warned that AI could spell the end of the human race?
  • Question 4: In what year did IBM’s AI, Deep Blue, beat the world chess champion?
  • Question 5: True or False: AI has the ability to write award-winning novels.

2. Choose Your Google Slides Game Templates

Selecting the right template is crucial. Envato Elements offers a vast library of creative assets, including some of the best Google Slides game templates. For this tutorial, I used the Upskool template, which provides all the necessary slides for my game.

4. Delete Unwanted Slides

Premium Google Slides game templates often come with many slide designs, but you may not need them all. Delete slides you won’t use by selecting them in the left sidebar and pressing the Delete key.

Now it’s time to build your game. I named my trivia quiz “The Ultimate AI Trivia Challenge” and added a title slide.

Step 1: Create Slides for Each Question

Choose a slide design that fits the multiple-choice format and start inputting your questions and possible answers. You can create different shapes to highlight your answers and can also include images for visual impact.

Step 2: Create Feedback Slides

Following each question, create feedback slides for correct and incorrect answers. Each slide can provide additional fun facts or explanations.

  • For a correct answer, include positive feedback and fun facts about the topic.
  • For an incorrect answer, explain why the answer was wrong and encourage players to try again.

Link your question slides to the corresponding feedback slides by selecting the images or text and going to Insert > Link. Don’t forget to link your Next and Try again buttons appropriately!

Step 4: Create a Results Slide

At the end of your quiz, create a results slide where players can see their scores. You can add extra questions or fun facts to spark conversation.

6. Share Your Interactive Google Slides Game

Once your game is ready, invite friends or colleagues to play. You can host a virtual gathering or an in-person event to test your game. Pay attention to the following aspects during gameplay:

  • Are the rules clear and easy to follow?
  • Is the game intuitive and interactive?
  • What improvements can be made based on feedback?

An interactive quiz game is a wonderful way to bond with others while learning new information. Let the fun begin!
