Do you want to add some fun to your PowerPoint presentation? Adding bouncy ball animation to your presentation is a great way to do that.

This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating a bouncing ball animation in PowerPoint, converting your ball image into a bouncing ball, and transforming your bullet points into bouncing balls.

How to Create a Bouncing Ball Animation

If you want to add excitement to your presentation, knowing how to create a bouncing ball animation can be beneficial.

For this tutorial, I’m using PowerPoint version 16.63.1 on macOS.

1. Choose a Template & Slide

image

Select a template to incorporate your bouncy ball animation. In this tutorial, we will be using the Minimal PowerPoint template from Envato Elements.

This template features over 120 total slides, five premade color schemes, illustrations, and handcrafted infographics. It also includes picture placeholders, making it easy to add images simply by dragging and dropping them into the designated areas.

After selecting your presentation template, choose a slide for your bouncy ball animation. For this tutorial, we will use slide two, displayed above without any edits.

2. Create Your Ball

image

To create a bouncing ball animation, you need to start with a ball shape. First, click on the Insert tab in the toolbar. Next, click on the Shapes button.

In the Shapes menu, locate the Basic Shapes section and select the Circle shape.

3. Fill Your Ball

image

Once you’ve drawn your circle, click on it to select it. Then, navigate to the Shape Format tab in the toolbar and click on the Format Pane button.

In the Format Pane, find the Fill section. Click on the Fill Color button to open the color menu and choose your desired color.

4. Add Animation of Ball Bouncing

Select your ball shape again, and click on the Animations tab. In the toolbar, locate the Entrance Effects section, and scroll to find the Bounce effect.

To enhance the bounciness of your ball, click on the Path Animation button in the toolbar and choose the Bounce option. You’ll see a path with a box and handles indicating the trajectory your ball will follow.

Turn an Image into a Bouncing Ball

If you prefer a more realistic bouncing ball, you can achieve that as well. We will continue using slide two of the Minimal PowerPoint template from Envato Elements. Here’s how to create a realistic bouncing ball animation:

1. Choose Your Bouncing Ball Image

image

For this tutorial, I’m using the Sports and Games Soft Color Icons from Envato Elements for the bouncing ball image. This icon pack features a variety of sports balls and equipment.

The soft color of the icons complements your presentation without distracting the audience from your key points. The Sports and Games Soft Color Icons pack includes the following file types:

  • AI
  • EPS
  • FIG
  • JPG
  • PDF
  • PNG
  • SKETCH
  • SVG

2. Add Your Ball to the Slide

image

To insert the image, click on the Insert tab and then click on the Pictures button. A menu will appear; choose the appropriate option based on where your image file is stored.

I used the PNG file, which has a transparent background.

Once you find your image, double click it to insert it onto your slide. Adjust the size by dragging the handles as necessary.

3. Add Animation of Ball Bouncing

image

To animate the bouncing ball image, start by selecting the image. Next, go to the Animations tab and choose the Bounce effect from the Entrance Effects menu.

For an additional bouncy effect, use the Path Animation feature. Click on the Path Animation button in the toolbar and select the Bounce option.

How to Turn Bullet Points into Bouncing Balls

You can also make your bullet points more engaging by transforming them into bouncing ball animations. Here’s how:

1. Choose the Slide

image

Select the slide containing your bullet points. For this tutorial, we will use slide six of the Minimal PowerPoint template, which already includes bullet points.

Since these bullet points are not circular, delete the existing bullet points. Place your cursor in front of the first word of the bullet point and press Delete on your keyboard.

2. Add New Bullet Points

image

To create round bullet points, highlight your text and navigate to the Home tab. Click on the Bullets button to add bullet points to your text.

3. Add Animation

image

Unfortunately, bullet points cannot be animated individually; you must animate both the bullet points and the text together.

To animate your new bullet points, select the text and bullet points together. Then, go to the Animations tab and click on the Bounce animation in the Entrance Animation menu.
