These steps can be applied to all other PowerPoint templates as well.

For our example, we’ll create a presentation titled “Best Artificial Intelligence Tools for Productivity.

1. Delete Unneeded Slides

First, let’s cover how to delete a slide in PowerPoint. When creating a presentation, it’s common to have extra slides that don’t fit your content. Removing these unnecessary slides makes your presentation more streamlined and effective.

To delete unnecessary slides, open the Jerlome PowerPoint presentation. On the left side, you’ll see a panel with miniature views of all your slides. Locate and click on the slide thumbnail you want to delete to select it.

Once highlighted, either:

  • Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
  • Right-click on the slide and select Delete Slide from the drop-down menu.

For our presentation on the “Best AI Tools for Productivity,” we’re going to delete slides 2 through 8 and 20 to 30.

2. Add Images to Free PowerPoint Templates

Adding images to your PowerPoint isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s essential! To engage your audience, use impactful images that resonate with your content. This means you need high-quality images that look impressive.

You can find thousands of high-quality images on Envato Elements to use in your presentations.

There are two options for inserting images into your slides using the Jerlome template:

  1. Use the image placeholders.
  2. Insert images manually.

For this presentation, we’ll add the following Envato Elements image to slide 10:

Inserting images through the preset image placeholders is easy. Simply click on the image icon on the slide. A popup of your computer’s files will appear. Select the image you want to add.

To insert an image manually, select the slide where you wish the image to appear. Click on the Insert tab at the top. From the drop-down menu, choose Pictures > Pictures from File… and browse your computer to select your desired image. Once selected, click Insert. Adjust the image size and position as required.

Choosing the right image is crucial. It should be high-quality and relevant to your topic, ensuring it complements rather than detracts from your message.

3. Change Text in Free PowerPoint Template Downloads

Next, we’re going to change the text in PowerPoint. Your text is the backbone of your message.

To ensure clarity and emphasis, you may need to change the content, color, or style.

Start by changing the text on slide 10. To modify the text, click on a text box and begin typing or editing the default text laid out for you.

To change the font of the text to suit your presentation’s theme, select the text you wish to change. Go back to the Home tab and choose your desired font from the font drop-down menu.

PowerPoint offers various font styles and effects to add a professional touch to your slides. Exploring the options lets you emphasize crucial points and make your presentation more engaging.

To change the font color, highlight the text and go to the Home tab on the top of PowerPoint. Click on the font color icon and select a color that enhances readability, typically black or a dark gray, depending on the background color of your slide.

4. Embed Fonts in Free PowerPoint Themes

Fonts play a crucial role in maintaining the visual consistency of your presentation. If you’re sharing your presentation across different devices, embedding your fonts ensures it looks the same everywhere.

To embed a font, click PowerPoint at the top left of your computer screen and then click Preferences from the drop-down menu.

Next, click Save from the menu. A Font Embedding option appears for you to select. Check the Embed fonts in the file option.

Choose the Embed all characters option. This allows others to edit the PowerPoint and use the same fonts even if they don’t have them installed on their computer.

Keep in mind that embedding fonts increases the file size of the PowerPoint presentation.

5. Change Background Color in Free PowerPoint Templates

Background colors drastically impact your presentation’s feel and mood. Choosing the right color can engage your audience and make your slides pop.

For our presentation on the “Best AI Tools for Productivity,” a white background works best. However, if we need to change the background color, we can do that easily.

To change the background color, right-click on the slide. Select Format Background from the drop-down menu. A panel opens on the right.

Under Fill, click the Fill Color bucket icon. A color picker will appear. Choose a new color for your background.

Remember that your chosen color should complement your content, ensuring text and images are easily visible and aesthetically pleasing.
