1. Browse Slide Layouts

When you think of how to make a Jeopardy game on Google Slides, consider how your game is going to flow. Normally, Jeopardy games feature a variety of categories with increasing prize dollar amounts. Then, questions each get their own slide, along with the answer slides.

With this template, we’ll browse through the slides to find ones that would make a good base for our Jeopardy game and then edit them to fit Jeopardy.

With the template open, you can scroll through the layouts in the sidebar. Click on individual thumbnails to preview slides. Or, you can also move up and down by using the arrow keys on your keyboard. This is a great way to get a feel for the Jeopardy Google Slides template.

2. Customize Categories

Now that you’ve previewed the template, it’s time to start customizing it to fit your theme of choice. Remember, Jeopardy games can feature questions in any categories that you choose. Premium templates like this give you the flexibility to create a Jeopardy game.

We are going to start with a blank slide for our custom category page as this will allow us to create a customized category board that fits the Jeopardy game.

First, we will add the title of the board by inserting a text box.

image

Next, we will add the background rectangle for each of the category columns. We’ll choose the Shape icon and then choose a square. We’ll then left click on the slide, hold, and create the column on the left of the slide.

This will create the column that we want.

Now we’ll add the actual category of the column at the top of it. To do this, simply use the text box again and type in your category.

image

Finally, we’ll add the dollar amounts from one hundred to five hundred in yellow ovals. First, we’ll create the oval by clicking on shapes, going into the shapes menu, and then choosing the oval.

Click and drag under the category name to create the oval shape. Do this four more times to create five different ovals.

Finally, add a text box into each of the ovals and type in $100 to $500.

image

Now we are ready to copy our columns. To add three more columns, duplicate the first column by clicking and dragging over it.

On a Mac, hold ‘Option,’ or on Windows, hold ‘Alt,’ then click and drag the column to the right. Repeat this process twice to create a total of four identical columns.

Your category slide is now ready for use in how to make a game on Google Slides!

3. Add Questions

Now we need to create our questions for each category and for each dollar amount. To do this, we’ll edit slide sixteen, which has a question template we can fill out and edit.

image

Be creative and think about your audience. What topics and questions fit your needs? What will the audience most enjoy? Once you’ve decided, add the individual questions and the header text.

To do this, simply replace the placeholder text in the header and in the center of the card.

image

Remember the structure of Jeopardy questions as you work. Questions are phrased more as answers, stating a fact. The answers are actually asked as questions.

Although you don’t have to use this format, it stays true to the nature of the game itself.

Now you can duplicate this slide for the rest of your questions and replace the text holder header and question text. To duplicate a slide, right-click the slide in the left-hand slide selector and choose the Duplicate Slide option.

4. Add Answers

Next, we’ll need to add answer cards to all our questions. Slide seventeen has an answer card that we can use. Just like in step three, all we need to do is change the header text and the answer on the card.
