Brochures are a great way to inform potential clients about a product or service. They can be a great form of advertisement. Google Slides makes it easy to create a brochure. If you use a premium template, you start with a great base.

While you may not be able to find brochure templates specifically for Google Slides, you can use an ordinary Google Slides template to achieve your design goals.

This tutorial will guide you through the process of taking a premium template and transforming it into a brochure. You’ll start with a well-designed base and learn how to make a brochure in Google Slides.

How to Make a Brochure on Google Slides

Learn how to change the Hero V1 Multipurpose Presentation Template into a brochure. This template comes with a total of 2000 slides, allowing you to add ample information. Additionally, it features ten color schemes to choose from, helping you select a style that suits your needs.

The Hero V1 Multipurpose Presentation Template is originally a PowerPoint template, but you can easily convert it into a Google Slides template. For guidance on converting a PowerPoint template, refer to the tutorial linked below:

1. Choose a Slide

Start by selecting a slide you want to use as your brochure base (I chose slide #22). In this tutorial, we’ll be creating a trifold brochure.

Select a slide that you believe would make an effective brochure base. Delete any unwanted objects by selecting them and pressing Delete on your keyboard.

It’s advisable to remove any text boxes, as they may interfere with the table you will later add, making them difficult to edit.

2. Insert a Table

Since we are making a trifold brochure, you will need to insert a three-column table. If you plan to create a bi-fold brochure, a two-column table will suffice.

Click on the Insert tab in the ribbon, then select the Table option from the dropdown menu. A mini table will appear; drag your mouse over the top three boxes to create your table.

Finally, adjust the table edges to align with the slide edges. This table will serve as a helpful guide for designing your trifold brochure.

3. Think About the Layout

To create a trifold brochure, you will need two brochure slides with three columns each. You will be folding your brochure along the lines of the table. The layout will typically look like this:

  • Front cover
  • Inside page (back of front cover)
  • Inside middle page (back of back cover)
  • Inside middle page (back of flap)
  • Flap
  • Back cover

The way you fold your brochure will ultimately dictate your layout.

If visualizing this is challenging, take a piece of paper and fold it into a trifold brochure according to the layout described above.

Make a copy of your slide with the table for the inside of your brochure.

4. Design the Front Cover

The front cover corresponds to the leftmost column on your first brochure slide. Feel free to design the cover to your liking.

Start by adding text. Click on the Text box button in the ribbon and type your content.

To customize the font, select your text and choose a font from the Font menu. You can adjust the font size using the plus and minus buttons in the Font size field located next to the Font menu.

5. Design the Back Cover

The back cover will occupy the middle box on your slide. This is an ideal place to include contact information. After adding your desired text, consider incorporating images.

To add images, click on the Insert image button in the ribbon. A menu will appear; select the appropriate option based on the location of your image.

You can also drag and drop the image file from its location onto your brochure slide. Once your image is on the slide, you may need to resize or adjust it accordingly.

6. Design the Inside Cover

Now, let’s design the inside cover. This section tends to be the most text-heavy as it typically contains details about your product or service. However, adding graphics or illustrations can enhance the overall appeal of your pamphlet.

For illustration purposes, I’m using the Ice Cream Cart Illustration from Envato Elements on the brochure flap in this tutorial. You can add graphics in the same manner as images—either by dragging and dropping or using the Insert image button. Repeat the previous steps for the back of your brochure as well.

7. Print the Brochure

When it comes time to print your brochure, you have two options:

  1. Use the Print button in the ribbon (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + P).
  2. Click on the File tab and select the Print option from the dropdown menu.

5 Handy Brochure Creation Tips

Before diving into designing your brochure slides, consider the latest design trends. Here are five valuable tips to enhance your brochure:

1. Limit Your Font Usage

While it may be tempting to use multiple fonts available on Envato Elements, aim for a minimal number of fonts in your brochure. An overload of fonts can create a cluttered, unprofessional appearance. Strive to leave a positive impression on your readers.

2. Keep It Simple

Standing out doesn’t always require intricate creativity. A well-executed simple brochure can effectively capture attention. A simple design can still be visually appealing without being overwhelming.

3. Use Shapes for Emphasis

To make specific statements stand out in your brochure, place them within a geometric shape. Using a contrasting color for the shape can help highlight the text and add visual interest to your brochure.

4. Consider Your Materials

When selecting materials for your brochure, think about the message you want to convey. For instance, choosing 100% recyclable paper sends an environmentally conscious message.

Ensure that your font contrasts with the background material for optimal readability.

5. Make It Fun

To enhance your brochure’s appeal, incorporate fun elements. Use vibrant colors, engaging illustrations, or graphics to inject personality into your design. Envato Elements offers a plethora of illustrations and graphics to help make your brochure more enjoyable.
