Are you struggling to edit a read-only PowerPoint presentation? Unlocking it is a straightforward process that can be completed in just four simple steps.

Step 1: Open the PowerPoint Project

To start, you need to open the PowerPoint application. You can find PowerPoint in your Start menu or Applications folder. Once opened, navigate to File > Open to find your project. Alternatively, you can right-click the file in your file manager or Finder and choose Open with > PowerPoint.

Step 2: Access the File Tab

Next, click on the File tab located in the editing ribbon at the top of your screen, right next to the Animations and Home tabs.

Step 3: Protect Presentation

In the menu that appears, select Protect Presentation, which is represented by a lock icon found to the right of the Info menu. This action will open up a dropdown menu for further options.

Step 4: Mark as Final

Finally, choose Mark as Final from the dropdown options. This action will remove the presentation protection and unlock the file. You will notice that the “Read-Only” text has disappeared from the title, and the yellow banner indicating protection is also gone, allowing you to edit the PowerPoint.

If you wish to revert the file back to read-only status, simply repeat the process and select Mark as Final again.
