Change Slide Size in PowerPoint
2 minutes read
Are you tired of presentations that don’t adapt well to the screens used in the venue? That’s mostly due to them not being properly suited for conventional (4:3) or widescreen (16:9) formats.
Understanding Aspect Ratios
Before giving your presentation, it’s important to know which type of screen it will be shown on, so you can optimize it as much as possible. However, keep in mind that after changing the original aspect ratio of your presentation, any elements and images already included will likely appear scrambled. You will need to readjust them one by one in the slides or even the master slides.
How to Change Slide Size in PowerPoint
To change the aspect ratio in PowerPoint, follow these steps:
- Click on Slide Size, which is located in the Customize group on the Design tab.
- Choose the desired aspect ratio for your presentation.
Custom Slide Size
Similar to Google Slides, you also have the option to set your own slide size by clicking on Custom Slide Size…
Scaling Content
When scaling the content in PowerPoint, you will be prompted to choose between two options:
- Maximize: Selecting this option will increase the size of the content when scaling to a larger size. Consequently, the content may get redistributed across the slides.
- Ensure Fit: This option reduces the size of the content when scaling to a smaller size. As a result, the content will be smaller, and you may need to scale it up again where necessary.
Now your presentation is ready and adapted for the new aspect ratio. For further information on how to change the aspect ratio of your slides in PowerPoint, please refer to this article on the Microsoft Office support page.
